THE BATTLE CONTINUES: At Quartz Hill High School they are a thing of the past, but at Quartz Hill Elementary School the Confederate flag and uniform can still be seen on the school’s mascot. The controversy that led to the demise of Confederate regalia at the high school in the Antelope Valley has now reached the elementary school. (B18)

RITZ IN BURBANK: Polo players and enthusiasts descended on Burbank Saturday for the third annual Legend’s Cup tournament. Polo is an expensive game to play--it costs a minimum of about $20,000 a year--but you don’t have to be rich to enjoy the game. A variety of fans gathered to watch six of the world’s best players compete at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. (B1)
