Japanese Firm to Set Up Computer Venture: NEC Corp., Japan’s biggest maker of personal computers, said it will start production in Shanghai this year, gaining a foothold in China’s potentially vast PC market, which is seen as on the verge of big growth. NEC said it signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for computer-related products with Chiangiang Computer Union Corp. The venture, to be called NEC Shanghai Computer Co., will be 60% owned by NEC Corp., 10% by NEC Technologies Hong Kong Co. and 30% by the Chinese partner.
