Motorcyclist Held After 100-m.p.h. Chase
GARDEN GROVE — A police chase on the San Diego Freeway that reached 100 m.p.h. ended in the arrest of a motorcyclist, police said Thursday.
Stephen Arnold Littler, 27, of Ellensburg, Wash., was arrested about 11 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of evading an arrest, possession of drugs and possession of drugs with intent to sell, authorities said.
About 8:50 p.m., a police officer spotted a man on a Kawasaki motorcycle at Beach and Garden Grove boulevards. After checking the license plate, the officer discovered that the plate was registered to a Yamaha vehicle, not a Kawasaki, police said. The officer tried to stop the biker, who got on the San Diego Freeway and accelerated to 100 m.p.h. before returning to surface streets, police said.
Due to “safety reasons,” the pursuit was canceled at Pacific Coast Highway and Studebaker Road, where the man allegedly dropped small packages that police later identified as methamphetamine. Minutes later, the officer arrested the suspect.
