Sewage-Treatment Plant Loan OKd : Ojai
The State Water Resources Control Board has approved a $4.5-million low-interest loan for the Ojai Valley’s new sewage-treatment plant.
Construction on the plant’s $27.5-million upgrade began in January and is expected to be finished in July, 1997.
The state-of-the-art treatment plant is being built to satisfy stringent requirements imposed by the state in 1990. The new plant will upgrade the treatment of sewage before it is discharged into the Ventura River as waste water.
To help finance the project, the sanitary district is proposing a $7-a-month fee increase.
The board also loaned the Ojai Valley Sanitary District $15 million last December.
