Garden Grove Delays Decision on Liens

The City Council has delayed a decision on whether to place liens on property belonging to minors or their parents if the minors are convicted of graffiti vandalism.

The council was scheduled to consider the issue Tuesday but postponed discussion until its next meeting, on June 27, City Clerk Carolyn Morris said.

As Tuesday night’s meeting neared midnight, council members decided that it was too late to engage in substantive discussions, Morris said.

“There comes a point when those types of discussions aren’t going to be productive,” she said. “When it gets to be around midnight, it’s hard to think.”

Discussions on term limits, a code of ethics and an ordinance regulating pornographic material in news racks were also postponed until the June 27 meeting because of the late hour, Morris said.

She said two public hearings scheduled for Tuesday will be conducted during the regularly scheduled July 11 council meeting.
