With Chili Davis on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, the Angels on Friday turned the designated hitting duties over to Greg Myers for the first game of their 10-game trip.

Manager Marcel Lachemann said the job would be shared by a number of players.

“We’ll probably bounce it around depending on the matchups,” Lachemann said.

The last time Davis was sidelined by injury, Angel designated hitters went a combined one for nine (.111), the team was outscored, 14-2, and lost three in a row. A groin injury kept Davis out of action for three losses to Oakland, June 27-29, 1994.

Davis is batting .359 and Myers .257.

Second baseman Damion Easley, battling an 0-for-22 slump going into the game, returned to the lineup after sitting out Wednesday’s game. Lachemann said he needed Easley’s defensive skills on the Kingdome’s artificial turf. . . . The rainout against Chicago on June 16 has been rescheduled for Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. . . . The Angels signed Carl Willis, a right-handed reliever, to a triple-A contract. Willis was 2-4 with a 5.92 earned-run average in 49 games for the Minnesota Twins last season. The Twins released him after this past spring training.
