ANAHEIM : Vendors’ License Moratorium Extended
A moratorium on new permits for street vendors has been extended through the end of the year.
The six-month extension approved this week by the City Council will give the city more time to look into complaints from residents about trash, noise and loitering associated with vendors who sell produce and other items from parked trucks and vans.
Anaheim code enforcement manager John W. Poole said that problems occur when too many vendors congregate in one community.
“Before the moratorium, routinely we’d have 15 to 20 vendors in one neighborhood,” Poole said.
Poole said he hopes to propose new regulations to the City Council by early fall.
The moratorium, which was to have expired Friday, has been in effect since September.
