Long before there was a Newport Beach Pier, there was McFadden’s Wharf.

Brothers John, James and Robert McFadden opened the quarter-mile wharf in 1888. The wharf could accommodate the unloading of three ships simultaneously, providing employment for a fleet of workers who became the first permanent residents of the Newport Beach area.
