School Bond Rejection a Lesson in Hypocrisy

People should not blame senior citizens for exercising their right to vote. However, those who voted against school bond Measure H in Santa Clarita because they were “fed up” with taxes displayed the height of hypocrisy.

On the one hand, they are unwilling to pay, on average, $60 each year to improve the education of young people (including, in some cases, their own grandchildren).

On the other hand, they will expect those same young people to pay thousands of dollars into a Social Security system of which senior citizens are the chief beneficiaries, and which may not even exist when today’s students are due to collect.

What a lesson this has been for students.
