OAK PARK : Haines Seeks Post on Advisory Council

Atty. Todd Haines announced his candidacy Monday for one of two open positions on the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council.
Haines, 32, said that if elected in the Nov. 7 contest, he will support local schools and strive to keep Oak Park’s crime rate down.
He also said he would join in the ongoing council fights to save Oak Park’s county-run library from closure and obtain a separate ZIP code for the community.
Haines said the birth of his daughter, who is now 13 months old, motivated him to run to preserve the quality of life in Oak Park.
Haines, who has lived in the unincorporated community for 2 1/2 years, applied for one of two appointed seats on the council in March.
He made the final round of five candidates, but was beaten out by Douglas Hewitson and Chuck Monico.
The seats of George Anterasian and John Kruer are up for grabs this fall. Anterasian has indicated that he will run again.
