Pacific Telesis Completes Wireless Cable Buy: The San Francisco-based telecommunications holding company said it became the first phone company in the nation to offer wireless cable television service with completion of its $175-million acquisition of Cross Country Wireless Inc. The company now has 40,000 video customers in Riverside. Pacific Telesis hopes to offer video service to 5 million households in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties by the end of 1996. The wireless cable technology is considered an interim step that will enable Pacific Telesis, parent of Pacific Bell, to enter the TV business quickly while it upgrades its wired network for video services.
