2 Teen-Agers, Man Killed in Crash
PALMDALE — Two teen-age brothers and their mother’s boyfriend were killed Tuesday afternoon after being thrown from a car that apparently sped through a stop sign and struck a second car, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Trade Center Drive and Auto Center Drive, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Olson.
Three brothers, ages 12, 14 and 15, were with their 38-year-old mother and her 41-year-old boyfriend in a Mustang driven by the boyfriend, Sgt. Pat Hunter said. The Mustang went through a stop sign on Trade Center Drive at high speed and was hit by a Toyota moving east on Auto Center Drive, Hunter said.
The Mustang rolled about 150 feet into a vacant lot, hurling out the brothers and the boyfriend, Hunter said. The mother, apparently the only passenger with a fastened seat belt, remained in the car and suffered only minor injuries, Hunter said.
The two younger brothers were pronounced dead at the scene, and their elder brother was in critical condition at Holy Cross Medical Center. The boyfriend died a few hours later at Antelope Valley Hospital, Hunter said.
A 43-year-old woman who was driving the Toyota was taken to Desert Palms Community Hospital in Palmdale with minor injuries, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
