FILLMORE : Victim of Head-On Crash Identified
A motorist killed in a head-on crash with a truck near Fillmore was identified Saturday as Martin Medina of Ventura.
Hospital tests showed that the 34-year-old man had alcohol in his system, coroner’s investigator Dale Zentzis said.
“We have to do our own tests for the level, but the hospital tests show it was alcohol-involved,” Zentzis said.
Medina died of multiple injuries late Friday when he was thrown from his car after it swerved across the center line of California 126 and collided with a tractor-trailer rig near Fish Hatchery Road, authorities said.
Neither the driver of the rig--Lorene Coble, 39, of Spokane--nor her passenger was injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Coble, who tried to avoid the crash by steering her truck onto the shoulder of the road, was not cited.
