COSTA MESA : Second Bank Robbed on Harbor Boulevard
A bank robbery Tuesday was the city’s second heist along Harbor Boulevard in two days, police said.
The suspect, described as a white male in his mid-40s to early 50s, entered the Bank of America branch in the 2700 block of Harbor about 4 p.m. and handed a deposit slip to the bank teller, Police Sgt. George Yezbick said Wednesday.
“I guess he gave her a deposit slip so that he would fit in with the rest of the crowd at the bank,” Yezbick said.
The robber then demanded cash and opened his jacket, exposing a small handgun with a wooden grip in a black leather holster on his left hip, police said.
He escaped through the bank’s east doors. No car was seen. The robber was last seen wearing long dark pants and a white T-shirt under a brown jacket. He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing about 190 pounds, with blue eyes and short blond hair, police said.
A man of similar age and description robbed a Home Savings of America bank near Harbor and Baker Street on Monday.
Police said the two incidents may be connected. They would not say how much money was taken in the robberies.
