OUTLOOK

For the third year in a row, Los Amigos is loaded with talent. But like most of the Garden Grove schools, the Lobos can’t afford injuries. Though Sanchez is new at quarterback, replacing all-leaguer Ape Tuato, the Lobos have one of the county’s most explosive running backs in Fausto (1,229 yards, 29 touchdowns), a big play receiver in Carr and a veteran offensive line. But Takahashi said Fausto, an all-league wrestling champion and 330-yard hurdle champion, is the key. “He’s gained strength and quickness,” he said. “With a new quarterback, we’ll probably take our time throwing the ball.” The defense is a question, but Takahashi is high on Vaioletama, a transfer from Carson who didn’t play football last year.
