Lakers’ Campbell Sentenced to Four Days, Fined $1,850
A judge Thursday sentenced Laker forward Elden Campbell to four days in jail and fined him more than $1,850 for crashing his car while driving drunk in July.
At the request of Ventura County prosecutors, Campbell was given twice the jail term a first-time drunk driver usually receives.
In arguing for the harsher sentence, prosecutors said Campbell was driving more than 100 m.p.h. when he flipped his car on California 118 in Simi Valley and then refused to take a blood test after he was arrested.
Campbell, who did not appear at the hearing, will serve his time in the Seal Beach City Jail.
