FILLMORE : Trains to Tour Hills and Citrus Groves
Fillmore & Western Railway Co. will offer train rides through the citrus groves and rolling hills between Fillmore and Santa Paula beginning Sunday.
Passengers may board the train either in Fillmore or Santa Paula for a two-hour ride on diesel-powered engines.
Trains will leave Fillmore Central Park at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the Santa Paula Depot on 10th Street at 11:15 a.m. on most Sundays through Nov. 19.
Meanwhile, steam-locomotive fans will be able to hop aboard the Fillmore & Western Railway steam engine on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 for two-hour trips in the Santa Clara Valley.
After the Oct. 1 rides, trips on the steam-locomotive will be offered again in the spring, said Larry Jensen, a railway spokesman.
The cost is $14 for adults and $8 for children ages 4 to 12 to ride the train. For information, call 524-2546.
