A $1,000 reward has been established by the family of murder victim Eric Velasquez for information leading to the arrest of his assailants.

Velasquez was gunned down in a carport after arguing with several people on North Ojai Road in Santa Paula in March, 1994. He died of a single gunshot to the chest, police said.

Velasquez, 21, a subscription salesman for The Times, lived in Santa Paula with his parents.

Velasquez’s mother, Susan Ventura, said she set up the reward out of frustration.

“I want justice to be served in my son’s murder,” Ventura said. “I want his killer off the streets.”

Anyone with information about the slaying should call police at 525-4474.
