COSTA MESA : Ohlig Agrees to Head Water District Board
Everyone--including Trudy Ohlig herself--said she did not want to lead the water board.
But some disgruntled water district customers who asked for former board president Tom Nelson’s resignation were pleased that Ohlig was nonetheless selected to head the Mesa Consolidated Water District board.
Ohlig reluctantly took over the post after other board members said they could not accept the position for a variety of reasons. Ohlig didn’t want it because the president merely presides over meetings, unable to make formal proposals like the rest of the board.
Hank Panian, who had been interim president since Nelson’s resignation last month, was voted first vice president.
Ohlig was first elected to the board in 1987. She served a previous term as its president in 1993-94.
