Herbert Sharp but Ducks Lose, 4-2

PORTLAND, Ore. — Alexander Mogilny and Russ Courtnall scored two goals apiece to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-2 exhibition victory over the Mighty Ducks Sunday night.
Mogilny’s second goal was the game-winner, giving the Canucks a 3-2 lead at 7:31 of the third period. He also scored in the first.
Anaheim goaltender Guy Herbert stopped 12 first-period shots and made two outstanding stops on shots by Bret Hedican and Trevor Linden in the second period. Anaheim’s Paul Kariya scored on a 35-foot slap in the second period.
