Litton Wins 2 Air Force Contracts for $22.5 Million
Litton Industries, a Woodland Hills-based defense company that builds ships for the U.S. Navy, said it has won two U.S. Air Force contracts totaling $22.5 million to continue building warning systems for F-16 fighter aircraft.
Under the new contracts, Litton will build 111 of its AN/ALR-56M airborne threat warning systems. These are devices that tell fighter pilots someone is tracking them on a radar screen. The early warning gives the pilots a chance to take actions to evade attack.
One of the agreements includes options for future production that could raise the value of the contracts to $54 million. Litton has already built about $104 million worth of these devices for the Air Force under previous contracts.
The systems will be manufactured in Grants Pass, Ore.
