Voxel: The fledgling biotech company in Laguna Hills said Thursday that federal regulators approved for sale its sole product, a system that creates holographic X-rays of the human body.
The system, which includes a holographic camera, film and a light box for viewing the X-rays, enables doctors to more easily diagnose problems in bones and tissues, said Dr. Allan M. Wolfe, the company’s president and chief executive.
The benefits of using the system should outweigh the additional $50 that it will add to the cost of an exam using a CAT scan or magnetic-resonance imaging scanner, Wolfe added. He said Voxel expects to begin booking sales of the system next spring.
