2 Are Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident Thursday evening that left one car mangled around a power pole, police said.
About 8:40 p.m., a speeding vehicle traveling near Beach Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue struck a car, and the driver fled, Police Sgt. Jerry Evans said. The car careened into a power pole, trapping one man who had to be rescued by firefighters and transported by helicopter to an area hospital. The conditions of the two injured people were not available, police said.
The accident snarled traffic on the southbound lanes of Beach Boulevard for more than an hour, Evans said. Details about the crash were not readily available Thursday night.
