Urologist Acquitted of Raping Patient at Office
A Glendora urologist was acquitted Friday of two counts of raping a female patient in his office, a verdict that came after jurors heard defense witnesses testify that the woman was a pathological liar and stole a semen sample to frame the physician.
After a day of deliberation, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury found Dr. Charles K. Metzker, 49, not guilty of rape by use of drugs and rape of an unconscious victim.
The verdict enraged the alleged victim, who had testified that the physician gave her a sedative and raped her on the examination table in his X-ray room in January, 1993.
“You’re going to hell!” the 38-year-old Chino Hills woman screamed as friends sought to restrain her.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Lauren Weis alleged Metzger gave the woman a drug that causes conscious sedation, then raped her. DNA tests showed sperm on her body belonged to Metzger.
Metzger and his attorney, Harland Braun, told jurors the woman stole a sample of the physician’s semen from a cup in the X-ray room’s bathroom with his initials on it in order to frame him for rape. Metzger and his wife testified the sample was there for testing because of medical problems the doctor was having.
