Little Stephanie Was One of Many Victims
It was prudent of Scott Harris to point out several other children who have been murdered or injured recently by gang violence (“Overcoming Hurdles to Taking Back Streets,” Sept. 24). The disgusting murder of little Stephanie Kuhen seemed to bring the issue of random gang violence to a head.
I’m still attempting to figure out why the media focused so much on this particular tragedy and not nearly as much on the other murdered and maimed children. Is it because we have finally had enough of this garbage, or is there another variable at work here? Is it because of the way the Kuhens were ambushed? Are there any racial issues involved? Now maybe people realize this can happen to anyone, not just little brown and black children.
I commend Harris for reminding readers that there have been additional children whose murders are just as egregious as Kuhen’s even though they were the intended targets of the shooters.
