Countywide : Security Firm Hired for Special Events
Orange County has hired a private firm to handle security services for special events in county parks and historical facilities.
The $40,000 contract with Secure Pro Security Service allows county officials to utilize the private guards on an as-needed basis.
The county plans to use the service during some private events at county facilities after hours when the regular staff is off duty or during the day when alcohol is served, according to a report.
Security personnel will be in charge of verifying that event organizers have the proper permits, that alcohol regulations are followed and that park rules are enforced.
The guards also will be responsible for locking up when the event is over.
The security workers will make $9.75 an hour, which event organizers will reimburse to the county.
