Camarillo Bank Robbery Puts County Total at 32
A Camarillo bank was robbed late Monday afternoon of an undisclosed amount of money, making it the 32nd Ventura County bank robbery this year, the FBI said.
The Bank of America branch at 1656 Arneill Road was struck at 5:10 p.m. by a robber who handed a teller a note and verbally declared that he had a gun, although no weapon was seen, according to FBI Special Agent Gary Auer.
The bandit put the money in a brown paper bag and escaped the bank on foot, Auer said.
Auer said the man was believed to be a first-time bank robber and not linked to previous Ventura County bank robberies. The suspect was described as a Latino male, about 30, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He wore a dark blue baseball cap, a gray long-sleeved sweat shirt and blue jeans, Auer said. The FBI’s investigation was continuing.
