Caterpillar Inc. said its third-quarter profit fell 13% from last year, weighed down by the weaker dollar and higher sales discounts. The company earned $213 million, or $1.07 a share, compared to $244 million, or $1.20 a share in the same period a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter were $3.73 billion, up from $3.51 billion last year.
