Fullove, Caro Push Louisville to Division III Victory
Shaluinn Fullove placed second and Ashley Caro finished eighth to pace Louisville High to victory Friday in the girls’ Division III team sweepstakes race of the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational.
Louisville, the top-ranked Division IV team in the state, edged San Francisco St. Ignatius, 61-62. Nordhoff, the defending Southern Section Division III champion, was third with 112 points.
Ranger sophomore Elaine Canchola placed first with a time of 17 minutes 56 seconds over the three-mile course, but Nordhoff lacked the depth of Louisville, which placed five runners among the first 22 finishers.
Fullove, the defending Southern Section Division IV champion, timed 18:19 with Caro at 19:21.
In the boys’ Division III team sweepstakes race, McFarland totaled 88 points to hand Nordhoff (133) its first loss of the season.
St. Francis, paced by the 1-4 finish of Kevin Koeper and Andy Van Orden, finished third with 138.
Koeper timed 15:26 with Van Orden at 15:52.
Bryan Green of Littlerock was fifth in 15:55.
