10 Survivors of Russian Copter Crash Found
Associated Press
MOSCOW — A search team on Saturday found 10 survivors--three badly injured--of a military helicopter crash on an island in the Russian Arctic.
Rescuers also found the bodies of eight other people who were on the aircraft when it went down on Thursday.
The search was hampered by blizzards and bitter cold. But one helicopter managed to take off from a nuclear-powered icebreaker, and searchers aboard spotted tents on Bolshevik Island, 2,200 miles northeast of Moscow off Russia’s far northern coast.
