Soprano Jessica Seina, 28, of Irvine has taken first place in the Orange County district Metropolitan Opera auditions. Countertenor Alejandro Garri, 30, of Corona del Mar placed second; soprano Megan Weston, 30, of Tustin was third and soprano Sewell Griffith, 29, of Aliso Viejo was fourth. Twelve singers participated. The four winners will participate in the preliminary finals at USC on Nov. 10. Those winners will compete Nov. 11 at USC. Tickets for the finals: $15. In addition to moving up in the competition, Seina received the $500 Philharmonic Society of Orange County award, Garri the $300 James V. Powers award, Weston the $200 William John Conlin award and Griffith the $175 Orange County Affiliates Award. Soprano Elizabeth Koukladas, 30, of Westminster, won the $150 Florence R. Schumacher Encouragement Award, given in memory of Nunzio Crisci. Soprano Robin Follman, 25, of Tustin and tenor David T. Kim, 28, of Laguna Hills each won $100 encouragement awards.
