Creative Biomedics: The San Clemente biomedical company said it recently won a $2.4-million jury verdict in a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Tempe, Ariz.-based MultiSPIRO Inc., a medical products distributor. Creative Biomedics makes instruments for testing lung function. Daniel Brown, Creative Biomedics’ president and a founder of MultiSPIRO, said the dispute arose after he and his former partner at MultiSPIRO, Larry Helwig, went their separate ways two years ago. Creative Biomedics’ lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court charged that MultiSPIRO breached its contract to share product technologies after the split, Brown said. Helwig responded that the two companies are in negotiations following the verdict. Helwig said MultiSPIRO will probably appeal the verdict, but wouldn’t comment further.
