VENTURA : Bank of America Branch Robbed
A robber struck at a Ventura branch of Bank of America on Friday morning--exactly a month after the last robbery there.
At 9:50 a.m., a man entered the bank at 2698 E. Main St. and handed a teller a note demanding money, said Gary Auer, FBI supervisor for Ventura County. The man also verbally threatened to kill the teller before leaving the premises on foot with a sum of money, he said.
The FBI is looking for a clean-shaven black male with short black hair between the ages of 25 and 28, Auer said. The man is about 5-foot-9 and weighs about 170 pounds. During the robbery, he wore a white, long-sleeved shirt and black pants, Auer added.
The same branch of Bank of America was robbed Sept. 27, but Auer said the FBI had yet to associate Friday morning’s incident with any other Ventura County bank robbery.
The robbery was the 34th in the county this year, 15 more than last year at this time, according to FBI statistics. In 1992, there were 97 bank robberies in the county in the same period.
