Threatened Area
* The Bolsa Chica wetlands and mesa are valuable and important coastal resources in Huntington Beach that must not be lost to the development plans of the Koll Co. At its meeting next month, the California Coastal Commission should give a resounding rejection to plans to construct thousands of homes in this threatened area.
The construction of homes will endanger countless species of wildlife. These species include the endangered California least tern and Belding savannah sparrow. The addition of thousands of homes will mean the loss of habitat and bring residents’ pets into the area to destroy their eggs and young. There is no way to prevent this destruction and the plan calls for no mitigation of this threat.
