In the Century League boys’ cross-country finals:
Orange wins third consecutive title--Orange took four of the top 10 spots in winning its third league championship in a row on Yorba Regional Park’s three-mile course.
Nick Russell led the Panthers with a second-place finish (15:00) and Mike Avellan was third (15:33). Santa Ana Valley’s Manual Estrada won the race in 14:53.
In the Century League girls’ cross-country finals:
Foothill surprises El Modena--The Knights ran away with four of the top 10 spots, winning the meet and earning a share of league title with El Modena.
Nici Desmond (18:28) was fourth, Greta Martinez (18:44) sixth, Lisa DeFazio (18:53) eighth and Jenni Bair (18:55) ninth for Foothill. Maribel Delgado won the race in 18:06 for Santa Ana Valley.
In the Sunset League field hockey Tournament of Champions:
Santiago 5, Huntington Beach 0--Camelia Rodriguez scored three goals and Sandra Rodriguez scored two to lead Santiago (16-1-1) in second-round action.
Santiago plays Marina, a 1-0 winner over Fountain Valley, in the semifinals Tuesday at Marina.
In the Cal State water polo tournament championship game:
Foothill 14, Long Beach Wilson 10--Foothill won its second tournament of the season as Jeff Pflueger led the top-ranked Knights (21-1) with four goals.
It was Foothill’s second victory in three games this season against Wilson, ranked third in Division I.
