Leeson Singapore Bound
LONDON — The trader blamed for the collapse of Barings bank said Sunday that he will return voluntarily to Singapore to face charges against him--ending a bid to fight extradition from Germany.
Nicholas Leeson, 28, will face three charges of forgery and eight charges of fraud in Singapore. He could receive 14 years in prison if convicted. He was arrested in Germany in March after fleeing Singapore.
“I have decided to return voluntarily to Singapore, and I will, therefore, not be pursing my appeal against the extradition order in Germany,” Leeson said in a statement released by his attorneys in London.
