Artists Will Open Studios to the Public
Have a thing for pottery, abstract painting or welded iron sculpture? Curious about Ventura County’s art scene?
From Agoura to Camarillo, 24 local artists will open their studios and galleries to the public Sunday for a peek at their latest work.
The public can visit the studios on self-guided tours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Art lovers will have a chance to talk with the artists, purchase pieces and watch demonstrations of works in progress.
“People can decide which artist they are most interested in,” said Linda Nelson, the chair of Open Art Studio Tour.
“It is a one-time opportunity to meet and be able to talk with the artists--seeing the art in their homes is just really unique.”
Tickets, tour maps, artist catalogues and other information can be picked up at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331-A Borchard Road in Newbury Park between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets--$6 in advance and $8 at the door--include brunch.
Art on display will include paintings, ceramics, sculpture, photography and furniture as art.
The event is being sponsored by the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission in partnership with the Thousand Oaks Art Assn. and Westlake Village Art Guild.
