San Gabriel Valley : Term-Limit Petitions Short of Signatures
A petition to limit Pasadena City Council members to two four-year terms has too few valid voters’ signatures to qualify for an election ballot, according to Acting City Clerk Jane Rodriguez.
A count of the petition from Pasadena Citizens for Term Limits by the county registrar-recorder found it to be short of 15% of registered voters’ signatures, Rodriguez told the council Monday. Of 14,355 signatures submitted, 9,165 were valid--337 short of the number needed, Rodriguez said.
“This shows there’s a lot of support for term limits for the City Council,” said Nicholas Conway, the citizens group leader, putting a positive spin on the result.
