Servite prepared for its Golden West League title showdown with Tustin next week by defeating Ocean View, 34-20, in a league game Friday night at Cal State Fullerton.

Quarterback Greg Cicero completed 13 of 19 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns to lead Servite, which gained 308 total yards.

Vince Reed gave the Friars (7-2, 4-0) a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a one-yard touchdown run. Ocean View closed to 7-6 later in the quarter when Ted Norman scored on a 14-yard run.

After Reed fumbled into the end zone, Servite tight end Chris Bystedt recovered the ball for a touchdown with 6 minutes and 22 seconds remaining in the first half. Cicero connected with Stephan Ward on a 27-yard touchdown pass with just under two minutes remaining until halftime.

In the second half, Cicero added touchdown passes of 19 yards to Michael Garko and six yards to John Hoefer to put the game out of reach.

Ocean View quarterback Jeff Taylor scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 6:34 left.
