In other cross-country finals:

South Coast League boys--Capistrano Valley won with 51 points. Dana Hills finished second with 69 and Mission Viejo third with 79. Mater Dei, which finished fourth (85), qualified for the Southern Section preliminaries over Mission Viejo because it had a better dual-meet record.

South Coast League girls--Dana Hills set a league record for the lowest team point total (19). Dana Hills’ Sydney Leonard finished first (18:37) and Laura Kroninger third (18:51). Also qualifying for the postseason were second-place Trabuco Hills (56 points) and Mater Dei (68).

In girls’ tennis:

Sakamoto wins--Kristen Sakamoto of Katella defeated Amanda Oldridge of El Dorado, 6-3, 6-2, for the Empire League singles title.

Luzano wins--Eleanor Luzano of Rosary, who did not lose a game in the semifinals, won the Golden West League singles title with a 6-2, 6-4, victory.

Weiss unseats Bray--Senior Lindsay Weiss of Laguna Beach dethroned teammate Michelle Bray, who had won the last three Pacific Coast League singles titles, 6-4, 6-1. Laguna Beach’s Sarah Cohen and Vanessa Zajfen won the doubles title.

In Empire League girls’ volleyball:

Katella 3, Century 1--Kelly Alva had 20 kills as Katella (11-4) won, 15-13, 12-15, 15-7, 15-6, in the third-place playoff to claim the league’s final playoff spot.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 3, Aliso Niguel 1--The Hawks won the third-place playoff and advanced to the section playoffs for the third consecutive season. Tayyiba Haneef had 15 kills and five blocks for Laguna Hills (10-7), which won, 15-10, 15-11, 11-15, 15-10.

In the Sea View League:

Irvine 3, Corona del Mar 1--Kelly Webb had 25 kills and Irvine (10-7) took third with a 14-16, 15-9, 15-7, 15-11 victory.

In Freeway League water polo:

Fullerton 15, Buena Park 9--Jeff Comstock and Steve Hieney each scored five goals for Fullerton in the playoff for second.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 14, Western 6--Brent Reimer of Brea Olinda scored six goals for the league-champion Wildcats (19-7, 8-0). His season total of 114 goals is a school record.

In nonleague play:

El Toro 10, Trabuco Hills 8--Coach Don Stoll recorded his 300th career victory, as second-ranked El Toro rallied for the victory.

Santa Margarita 9, Mater Dei 8 (2 OT)--Sophomore Tyler Wilson of Santa Margarita scored the game-winner in double overtime.

Villa Park 15, Mission Viejo 3--Peter Cornue scored four goals for third-ranked Villa Park (23-4).
