SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP : DEL REY LEAGUE

Alemany 6, St. Paul 3--Alemany (2-7, 1-3) ended four years of frustration with the upset at home. The Indians had not won a Del Rey game since 1992.

Gary Nieto’s 23-yard touchdown pass to Jose Gonzalez with 10:17 left in the first half capped a four-play, 73-yard drive for the Indians.

St. Paul answered with a second-quarter field goal.

After missing first two passes, Nieto completed his next seven and finished 10 of 17 for 97 yards. Gonzalez caught six for 76 yards.

St. Paul mounted a drive near the end of the game but Julio Olivares deflected a pass on fourth down at the Alemany 35-yard line with two minutes to play.
