HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : L.A. Baptist’s 23-14 Victory Sets Up Alpha League Showdown

L.A. Baptist High defeated Kilpatrick, 23-14, Saturday night in an Alpha League game at Alemany High, the Knights’ fourth consecutive league victory.

L.A. Baptist will play Village Christian for the league championship Saturday.

Peter Dirksen threw three second-half touchdown passes to lead the Knights (4-5, 4-0 in league play). Dirksen connected with fullback John Wilson on 27- and 49-yard scoring plays in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Dirksen, who completed six of nine for 100 yards, threw an eight-yard scoring pass to tight end Brian Anderson.

Kilpatrick (4-5, 3-2) rushed for 256 yards, including 82 in 11 carries by Larry Ford and 79 in 14 carries by Jonathan Weber. The Mustangs were hurt by three second-half fumbles.

Chris Ross, who entered the game with three consecutive 200-yard rushing games for the Knights, was held to 65 yards in 14 carries.
