Compared to Society, NCAA Doing a Fine Job

“Inconsistent NCAA” by Maryann Hudson and Elliott Almond qualifies strongly for a journalistic award as the hogwash story of the year. To bash the NCAA for some trivial inconsistencies is ridiculous. Considering the problems the NCAA faces in its enforcement of rules, it is a wonder the NCAA does as well as it does.

If the authors think that the NCAA has inconsistent problems, they should look at our criminal justice system. A good example appeared in the same edition of The Times, where a man convicted of killing a puppy faces a 10-year prison term while a man who killed a graffiti artist gets no jail time for illegally carrying the gun he used in the killing.
