COLLEGE BASKETBALL / PRESEASON NIT : Georgetown Is an Easy Winner

LANDOVER, Md. — A strained right shoulder and stitches above the eye couldn’t stop Georgetown’s Allen Iverson. Neither could Temple.
Iverson and freshman Victor Page combined for 42 points and put on a dynamic display of fast-break basketball Saturday as the fifth-ranked Hoyas defeated Temple, 74-49, in the second round of the Preseason NIT.
Georgetown (2-0) will play Georgia Tech in the semifinals Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Temple fell to 1-1.
Iverson, who didn’t practice Friday after being hurt in Thursday night’s first-round victory over Colgate, and fellow guard Page accounted for all of Georgetown’s points over an 18-minute span beginning with 5 1/2 minutes to go in the first half. Page and Iverson outscored Temple, 22-9, over that stretch.
Iverson finished with 24 points and Page had 18. Johnny Miller led Temple with 21 points.
