An unidentified man was in critical condition after his car flipped Thursday evening on Pacific Coast Highway between Street of the Green Lantern and Street of the Blue Lantern, said Lt. Lynn Nehring of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Nehring said the man was traveling at high speed south on Pacific Coast Highway at Selva Road and lost control on a curve at Green Lantern about 5 p.m.

His 1987 two-door Acura flipped and skidded on its roof for nearly a quarter of a mile before stopping. Nehring said the man suffered life-threatening injuries and might have been traveling at more than 100 m.p.h.
