49ers to Face Colorado State in NCAA Regional

Long Beach State, making its ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament, plays host to Colorado State at 7:30 tonight in the first round of the Mountain Regional at the Pyramid.

Long Beach, ranked 16th in one national poll, was fourth in the Big West Conference and is seeded sixth in the 12-team regional. Colorado State, third in the Western Athletic Conference, is unranked and seeded 11th.

The 49ers (21-9, 12-6 in conference) are led by outside hitter Brita Schwerm and setter Misty May, who was selected the Big West’s freshman of the year Monday. Outside hitter Rainle Rogers paces the Rams (21-10, 8-6).
