2 Shot, 1 Arrested in Reported Gang Incident
OXNARD — A gang-related shooting sent two teen-agers to the hospital and a third to jail Thursday afternoon, police said.
According to Oxnard Detective Tim Lumas, two rival gangs confronted each other about 4:30 p.m. on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Channel Islands Boulevard and Paula Street.
A 14-year-old produced a gun and fired into the group of rival gang members, striking one 16-year-old in the stomach and a 17-year-old in the leg.
The 14-year-old Oxnard boy was arrested and taken to Juvenile Hall while the two wounded teen-agers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both are expected to recover, Lumas said.
Because of their ages, Lumas did not release the teen-agers’ names.
