Truck Crash Knocks Out Power
BURBANK — A piano-delivery truck struck a power pole and sheared off a fire hydrant Thursday night, sending a geyser of uncontrolled water spouting about 50 feet high and knocking out power to scores of homes in the area, Burbank police reported.
The truck hit the hydrant about 9:20 p.m. at the southeast corner of Lake Street and Alameda Avenue, next to an on-ramp to the Golden State Freeway, a police spokesman said.
It was not known if anyone was injured.
