House Fire Yields Drug Chemicals, Officials Say
SANTA ANA — Chemicals apparently used in the making of methamphetamine were found in a fire Thursday that caused an estimated $30,000 damage to a home, fire officials said.
Twenty-three firefighters were summoned about noon to battle a blaze in a frame home on the 1100 block of West Richland Avenue, a Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Authorities discovered flammable liquids allegedly used in the manufacture of drugs, prompting the evacuation of three nearby residences, according to the spokeswoman.
Police did not have information on whether there were any arrests and no one was injured in the fire, authorities said.
But firefighters did rescue a dog that had run into the burning house when firefighters arrived. The dog was found in a rear bedroom that was filled with smoke.
