HE’S SORRY: Dist. Atty. Gil Garcetti is--sort of--sorry. Not, apparently, for giving $43,000 in bonuses to three O. J. Simpson prosecutors. But about any hard feelings. His written apology says he’s “truly saddened” by deputies’ near-mutinous reaction. “I never meant . . . to denigrate or minimize the work done by anyone else. . . ,” Garcetti wrote.

THEY’RE MAD: The Van Nuys deputy who heads the prosecutors’ association said the troops are not mollified by Garcetti’s sudden contrition. “They’re just as angry--or maybe getting angrier,” Herb Lapin says. A special edition of the deputies’ newsletter was filled with Garcetti-bashing tomes last week. And Garcetti got a chilly reception from hundreds of deputies at a weekend seminar. “No one applauded,” Lapin said.

NOT MISERABLE: Kelly Briggs has sung the same songs 2,300 times--and counting. He’s an actor in the national company of “Les Miserables,” above, which begins its seventh year of touring Tuesday in Thousand Oaks. It seems Les Miz (F1B) is the Casablanca of theater: You can’t see it too often.

LOCAL ANGLE: Speaking of Casablanca, the classic will be shown Saturday at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. You do know that scenes were filmed at Van Nuys Airport. Also, in Valley Weekend in Calendar, treat yourself to bargains--and a review of Solley’s.

BOSNIA-BOUND: Santa Clarita leaders are looking to honor local soldiers heading for Bosnia. Spokeswoman Gail Ortiz recalls a similar Gulf War display. “We just cried listening to the stories of those people,” Ortiz said.
